Assez, a gripping play at Théâtre Clavel in Paris, not to be missed
A must-see on January 24 and 31, 2025, at 9:30 PM, featuring exceptional actors. This highly unsettling play feels like genuine theater: a powerful, incisive text that reflects on ourselves, grounded in reality—a theatrical triumph.
Assez explores a group of friends and delves into the transformations that occur when violence and manipulation enter a relationship. How should one respond? How can we help the blinded and distressed victim?
The magic of the sharp, poignant script by Francy Brethenoux-Seguin lies in its ability to create tension and immerse us in the chaos of love when everything falls apart, when lovers hurt each other, and when there is no way out.
This play denounces both physical and psychological violence and is brought to life by an extraordinary cast: Christina Koubbi, Fabien Guillas, Pierre Bondy, Benoît Gazeau, Marie Montégu, and Noémie Ducuing. It is deeply moving. Christina Koubbi’s palpable emotion is particularly striking. Through this role, she showcases a remarkable dramatic range, and it is hard to hold back tears during several intense moments of the play as she touches the audience’s hearts profoundly. It’s safe to say that her future is incredibly promising.
“The idea for writing Assez came to me when I witnessed two of my close friends being under the control of violent partners. I became interested in the psychological mechanisms that lead to domestic violence. I wanted the audience not only to witness the insidious development of these destructive dynamics but also to reflect on how this play resonates with their own experiences,” says Francy Brethenoux-Seguin, the playwright of Assez.
This is a powerful, moving play that stays with viewers long after and provokes deep reflection on human relationships. Don’t miss the final two performances at Théâtre Clavel in Paris (75019) on Friday, January 24, and Friday, January 31, at 9:30 PM.
