Ready, Set, Love is a 2024 Thai series available on Netflix. This six-episode show blends comedy, mystery, romance, and thriller in a bizarre and completely wacky universe.
An Original Story
Day lives in a world where men are rare due to a past pandemic. With the male population drastically reduced, the government has confined them to a highly protected village called "The Farm," where they live in isolation. Every four years, five young men are selected to participate in a televised matchmaking competition called Ready, Set, Love, where the goal is to form the best couple capable of producing children.

Day is an ordinary girl who struggles to take care of her sick younger sister. Her sister idolizes one of the contestants, a boy named Son. In the competition, female participants are selected by lottery—some from the elite class of "The Farm" and others from more modest backgrounds. When Day is chosen, she is initially reluctant but ultimately joins the show for the sake of her sister.
Among the glamorous candidates, Day feels out of place. However, she is determined to do whatever it takes to save her sister. Despite a chaotic first encounter with the most popular contestant, Son, she soon stands out and catches the audience’s attention. Through unexpected twists and surprises, Day embarks on a journey to achieve her dream—and maybe even more.
Entering a Parallel World
Ready, Set, Love explores the evolution of human society in a world where men are an endangered species. What would the future look like from the perspective of men, now treated as highly desired objects rather than dominant figures?

The series raises thought-provoking questions about personal freedom—the right to choose one’s own future and desires. It also critiques the influence of reality TV and the power of the media in shaping society, deepening social divides under government control.
A Unique and Refreshing Series
This show blends multiple genres. It begins as a comedy, featuring sharp dialogue and an eccentric world reminiscent of Hunger Games in its depiction of class divisions, mixed with the vibrant aesthetic of Luc Besson’s The Fifth Element and the unsettling tension of Squid Game.

The dynamic interaction between the two protagonists is central to the story, enhanced by witty dialogue that creates a fun back-and-forth exchange. The characters are stereotypical yet endearing, each driven by their own dreams and ambitions, leading to intriguing rivalries that make them even more compelling.

Beyond its humor, the series is also a romantic drama. The characters begin to develop new emotions, and as their feelings intensify, so does their yearning for freedom. Meanwhile, a thriller and mystery subplot adds depth to the narrative. Flashbacks throughout the episodes reveal the characters’ pasts and the complexities of the dystopian world they inhabit.
This series is a true hidden gem. With only six episodes, it’s easy to binge-watch—even with subtitles. Its original and absurd premise offers a refreshing escape from the overwhelming catalog of Asian dramas.
