La Voix d'Or: A jubilant musical whirlwind

This tragicomic musical play portrays a life inspired by Charles Gentes, known as "La Voix d'Or" ("The Golden Voice"). This man’s life, at once sublime, moving, and painful, was torn between a deep desire for recognition and an inner struggle against addiction, with all the violence it brings in its wake.

This addiction led him to extremes, reaching a point where he could no longer recognize those close to him, who supported him with genuine care. Consumed by jealousy and a self-destructive feeling of persecution, he ultimately lost what was most precious to him, transforming into a true tyrant. Although his fame was fleeting, it was long enough to awaken the darkest facets of his tortured personality...

La Voix d'Or: A Complex Personality

This descent into darkness enables us to experience a show that gradually reveals the complex personality of this artist. Fortunately, and here lies the paradox of this play, the joy of living remains dominant, triumphing over this struggle like a modern-day "Greek tragedy." Indeed, the joy of singing, dancing, and laughter persistently invites us to share in a jubilant musical whirlwind!

A delightful surprise is the presence of well-rounded artists, skilled as both actors and singers, alongside an onstage musician (pianist and harmonica player), bringing these successive scenes to life. Ingeniously designed, the production transports us across different eras and places.

This lively show skillfully blends humor and emotion through interpretations of classic French chansons that encourage the audience to hum along. The staging, original and dynamic, enhances it all with choreography that adds a comic layer to the experience.

‘La Voix d’Or’ is, without a doubt, an unconventional and unforgettable show, a must-see for a unique evening!
