Le Lion (2003) – « On se réveille toujours »

Je sens le fauve

Patricia inherits her father’s love for African wildlife and forms a touching bond with an impressive African lion.

The connection between the feline and the young girl is quite heartwarming, especially when you see the child nestled between its lethally powerful paws. Anouchka Delon is a true revelation, and it’s a shame she didn’t pursue acting further. However, some effects are a bit crude, like the zoom on the father's face after a mildly sharp line, or when he holds his head in his hands in sorrow.

Le Professeur (1972) – « Les filles n’ont pas besoin d’étudier »

Merde, encore une négresse

Daniele is a substitute teacher, and he becomes fascinated by a student.

The romantic tension between Alain Delon and Sonia Petrovna, with her melancholic beauty, is truly captivating. La prima notte di quiete (I use the original title because the French one dismisses the lyrical aspect, focusing on a relatively insignificant detail) showcases the magnetic presence of the two performers. Additionally, the grayish, misty cinematography and the desolate, almost ghostly Rimini, amplify the film's somber mood.

Traitement de choc (1972) – « Nous sommes tous des tueurs »

Rien n’a changé dans votre société. Comme chez les primitifs, on sacrifie toujours les faibles

Hélène is recovering from depression at a thalassotherapy institute. Strange phenomena begin to occur.

The film serves as a critique of the elites, who revel in their luxurious, socialite saunas while seeking eternal youth at any cost. The atmosphere is deliciously unsettling. It’s worth noting that Annie Girardot and Alain Delon frolic completely nude on a beach, which was quite unconventional at the time. All in all, it’s an unusual experience that never crosses into the absurd.
