The Crow (1994) – "The rain will stop one day"
He was made up like a dead whore
Eric Draven is brutally murdered along with his fiancée the day before their wedding. He rises from the grave to exact his revenge.
Inspired by a cathartic comic book for the author, the film proves that the superhero genre is not exclusively the domain of Marvel and DC Studios. The script manages to be deeply original, despite focusing on the often-overused theme of revenge. The lead actor tragically died during filming due to a firearm accident. His aura undeniably permeates this grief-stricken film. What’s certain is that this production wouldn’t have had the same impact without Brandon Lee’s death. It’s impossible to watch without reflecting on it, and his presence elevates the tormented, vengeful hero. The set design is gorgeously gothic. The dialogue is sharp. In short, a work with remarkable writing and direction.
SPOILER ALERT:
The final confrontation’s climax is particularly powerful, where the Crow transmits his victim’s visions in the hospital. Shaken, the villain falls off the roof and is impaled several meters below.
The devil was dumbstruck. Such goodness was unbearable to him.

The Crow – City of Angels – "How do you stop a man who’s already dead?"
Show your honeybox
Ashe Corven and his young son are killed for witnessing too much. He comes back to life with the sole purpose of revenge.
The major flaw is that this sequel pales in comparison to the masterpiece of the first film. The plot is formulaic: each killer is dispatched in an orderly fashion, but the story still holds our attention. Nevertheless, the subject has been rehashed so many times that it’s clear the film would be formulaic, retelling more or less the same story as its predecessor.

The Crow 3: Salvation – "How can you die if you’re already dead?"
You’re a killer, that’s all you are. Just a clown with a bird.
Alex Corvis is sentenced to death, despite claiming his innocence. He returns from the dead, driven by vengeful ambitions.
The film compensates for its potential lack of originality with engaging twists, particularly the hero’s execution by law, rather than being illicitly murdered. Additionally, it maintains the gothic aesthetic of the franchise. However, the overall formula remains unchanged, and the film loses some of its darkness. In short, it’s an enjoyable yet unremarkable installment, and The Crow franchise probably should not have been continued.
