The 2024 edition of Whisky Live Paris (WLP) has just ended. As every year, this event brings together whisky enthusiasts and professionals from many countries for three days – but not only whisky! A Rhum Gallery has been featured for two years now, and this year, the Patio des Agaves also showcased unique bottles of Tequila and Mezcal.

The 2024 edition celebrated three major anniversaries: the bicentenary of the 1823 Excise Act, which marked the birth of Scotch whisky, the 90th anniversary of the Japanese distillery that would become the renowned NIKKA, and the 20th anniversary of the first Whisky Live Paris, thanks to the Maison du Whisky (LMDW).

A Perfect Venue for Tasting

The WLP takes place annually at La Grande Halle de la Villette, becoming the “place to be” for three days (September 28-30, 2024). It's highly recommended to use the metro to get there.

Why Attend Whisky Live Paris 2024?

What to Expect at the Event?

First, you’ll meet renowned houses and discover lesser-known ones, with passionate producers eager to share their spirits with you. There's also a sake district featuring many Japanese brands, a great way to discover this underappreciated drink in France. Additionally, a festive Cocktail Street invites you to extend your visit during the aperitif hour.

The main draw of WLP is the chance to discover exclusive new releases, many of them world premieres, and to taste rare and high-end bottles. A VIP area on the mezzanine offers an even more exclusive experience, for an additional ticket fee.

Be sure to visit the LMDW shop, where you can purchase limited-edition whiskies and spirits, often with a 10% discount.

What Whiskies to Try?

What kind of whisky lover are you? Peaty, fruity, light, single malt, or blend? The WLP offers the perfect opportunity to explore your preferences.

Dive into the latest Scottish creations – Kilchoman, Element of Islay, Ardbeg, Loch Lomond, Johnnie Walker, Lagavulin – or the Japanese houses like Nikka, Togouchi, and Suntory. Don't miss Taiwan’s Kavalan or the French distilleries like Galaad (La mine d’Or) in Brittany or Vilanova (Distillerie Castan) near Gaillac, offering award-winning bottles at excellent value.

Approach each house with curiosity, engage with the producers, and understand their whisky-making process: What malt? Which water? How many years in the cask? What type of cask? Oak, Mizunara, Sherry, Port, Oloroso, Sauternes? Discuss the various notes: woody, spicy, smoky, fruity, and so on.

As you can see, each whisky is unique and deserves to be savored. You might even have the chance to taste rare bottles like a 33-year-old LittleMill, priced at €5,000 per bottle, by building rapport with the producers!

For true enthusiasts or "connoisseurs," there might be a hidden bottle just for you. It’s up to you to find it!

How to Prepare?

Preparation for this marathon event is key: between 1:30 PM and 7 PM, you might sample at least 50 products! It's strongly advised to eat well before – and during (there’s a dedicated food truck area). Drink plenty of water, as there are numerous water fountains throughout the venue. Try visiting on Sunday rather than Saturday to avoid long waits at the stands.

See you next year for WLP 2025! I’ll be there for sure!
