Paul Galiana, the songwriter, releases the album "De La Vie" with electric guitars taking the lead, and lets us listen to a preview of the track "Punchline". A must for fans of Gérard Manset, Rodolphe Burger, or Les Innocents.
Paul Galiana is a true craftsman in the landscape of French rock chanson. This guitarist is a prodigy with a lyrical and inspired playing style, and people are starting to notice. After various projects, he launched a solo career under his own name, creating music that speaks about life and himself, culminating in "De La Vie".
“De La Vie is both a continuation and a counterpoint to my EP 'Marque-Page',” he explained. “It’s a continuation because, like 'Marque-Page', it was built with the trio formed with Alain Gibert and Guillaume Glain, and we’ve been performing some of these songs live since we began our journey together.
But it’s also a counterpoint because this time we took our time. More importantly, I didn’t hesitate to enrich the original guitar-bass-drums setup when the song required it (which happened often). So the guitars are plural (electric, acoustic, dobro), sometimes seasoned with keyboard (Rhodes, piano, organ).”
Punchline: A Guitar-Driven Anthem
“The regular exposure to social media (and the media sphere that has become its extension) sometimes leads one to think that real expertise, factual argumentation, and nuanced discussion no longer hold any weight against a definitive punchline delivered with certainty and good conscience.”
Of course, for a theme like that, you need some good, gritty guitar (and several, for that matter), backed by a no-nonsense, forward-driving rhythm section. That's where we come from, and it's always good to return to it!”
“De La Vie” truly represents a slice of Paul Galiana’s life. It’s filled with memories, confessions, regrets, hopes, humor intertwined with melancholy—all delivered with subtlety. Paul Galiana shares his story, and it resonates with us because we see ourselves in his tales.
